Covid hits Premier League again, for 13 positive cases among players and staffs in Tottenham Hotspurs. Tottenham’s Premier League trip to Brighton has been postponed which is supposed to take place at 14:00 GMT on Sunday. Previously, Tottenham’s Europa Conference League match against Rennes on Thursday had already been called off.
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has confirmed eight players of first-team squad and five staff members have tested positive for Covid. Spurs were forced to close their first-team training centre on Wednesday.
Which players tested for positive
Tottenham has not confirmed players who tested positive for Covid. But, according to Football Insider, Korean forward Son Heung-min is one of them. Son is tested for positive among with Lucas Moura, Ben Davies and Cristian Romero. Emerson Royal and Bryan Gil had already been quarantine, missing the club’s Sunday game against Norwich City.
If Son is one of affected players, the outbreak could be hammer to the Korean Star. Son just picked up his second goal in as many games on last Sunday.
How long are affected players isolated
Under British government guidelines, any player who has been tested positive must be self-isolated for 10 days. If they report symptoms, that period could be extended.
The Premier League on Monday reported 12 new positive coronavirus tests out of 3,154 tests among players and club staff. It was the highest figure since late August.
