Davies Doubtful for Benfica Chanmpions League

It was a terrific performance by FC Bayern in Leverkusen. In the first half in particular, the record champions played themselves into a frenzy and dismantled the Werkself into all its individual parts. A show of force – with a little damper.
In the 40th minute, when it was already 5-0 for Munich, Alphonso Davies was replaced on Sunday. The Canadian, already strained by the international trip, had pain in his back thigh, as coach Julian Nagelsmann explained at the press conference after the game. But, said the head coach, “he probably got lucky”. At least that was the doctors’ first diagnosis; and so is hope. Perhaps it is a slight strain or a hardening of the muscles.
However, it is not yet certain whether the nimble wing player, for whom Josip Stanisic came into play, will be fit for the Champions League game on Wednesday at Benfica Lisbon. The investigations this Monday and Tuesday should provide further information.
In the 5-1 win in Leverkusen, Davies had previously prepared Robert Lewandowski’s 2-0 after a nice combination with Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané.
