On Tuesday, AC Milan and Inter announced their new new stadium ‘The Cathedral’ designed by Populous, who drew up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. the new stadium will be located in the same San Siro district of Milan as their current ground, whose offcial name is Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Inter.

Is San Siro and Giuseppe Meazza the same stadium?

AC Milan and Inter have shared the same stadium since 1926. With capacity of over  80,000, San Siro becomes the largest stadium in Italy and has hosted many of football’s most important matches. San Siro is one of the game’s most iconic arenas, nicknamed ‘football’s La Scala’.
San Siro will be kept until at least the 2026 Winter Olympics, hosting the opening ceremony.

‘The Cathedral’ project

the new stadium design is inspired by the world famous Duomo and Vittorio Emmanuele Galleries. Milan and Inter did not reveal its capacity. The project will include over 110,000 square metres of green space with sport and leisure facilities which are either “free-of-charge or affiliated with the City of Milan”.
