Messi: Laporta never asked me to play for free

Leo Messi breaks the long silence on the farewell to Barcelona and on the relationship with Blaugrana president Joan Laporta. He does so in an exclusive interview with the newspaper Sport: “I did my best to stay, never at any time was I asked to play for free. I was asked to lower my salary by fifty percent and I did it without any problems to help the club. My wish and that of my family was to stay in Barcelona ”.
“Nobody asked me to play for free but at the same time it seems to me that the words that the president said are out of place – added La Pulce -. They hurt me because I think he didn’t need to tell her. By doing so, he has raised doubts about me that I don’t think I deserve. However, I never spoke to him again, the relationship deteriorated ”. However, Leo expressed the desire to be able to return to Barcelona one day: “I have always said that I would like to return to help the club in any way. I would like to be the technical director, but I don’t know if he will be at Barcelona or elsewhere. I love Barça and I would like it to continue to grow and be among the best clubs in the world ”.
