Why Does Roman Abramovich decide to sell Chelsea? Russia billionaire maybe sanctioned

On Wednesday night, Roman Abramovich confirmed to sell Chelsea Football Club. All of net proceeding from the sale would be donated to victims of the war in Ukraine. He also wrote off £1.5billion of debt owed to him when he bought this club in 2003. Over 19 years, the Russian billionaire delivered 21 trophies to the Blues.

Why Roman Abramovich decides to sell Chelsea

Abramovich said, “In the current situation, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the club, the fans, the employees, as well as the club’s sponsors and partners.” 
The 55-year-old, who has Israeli and Portuguese citizenship, became one of Russia’s most powerful businessmen by earning fabulous fortunes after Soviet Union break-up.
For Russia invasion to Ukraine, Britain has imposed sanctions on 12 members of the Russian and Belarusian elite, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. British Labour leader Keir Starmer asked Prime Minister Boris Johnson to sanction against the Chelsea owner. Amids growing sanctions for him,  Abramovich decides to sell his beloved club.
