The 2021/2022 NBA regular season continued this morning with the Hornets winning their fourth straight game on their home court, beating the top-seeded team of the Eastern Conference Wizards 97-87 with six players scoring more than 10 points. The Hornets are now in 7th place in the Eastern Conference with 9 wins and 7 losses, in just 10 days,Hornets back to top 10 of Eastern Conference.
It is worth mentioning that the Hornets’ recent four-game winning streak against teams with a winning percentage of more than half is still quite substantial. The Warriors and the Wizards, whom they beat today, are the top teams in the East and West divisions respectively, with the Warriors currently holding the top spot in the league with a 12-2 record. What no one expected was that just three days earlier, the Hornets had handed the Warriors their second loss of the new regular season on their home court by a slim four-point margin.
In addition to the aforementioned Warriors and Wizards, the Hornets have also beaten the Knicks and Grizzlies, two teams currently ranked in the top 8 in the East/West division, during their 4-game winning streak. And in both of those games, the Hornets netted wins over their opponents by 5 points or more. It seems that even though the team doesn’t have many big names and their winning percentage has been hovering around 50%, the Hornets still have the ability to compete with the best teams in the league as long as the players can pull together and avoid sudden power outages like they did in their previous 5-game losing streak.
Having won four straight games, the Hornets will host the Pacers, who are currently 13th in the Eastern Conference on two days later. The Pacers, who just lost to the Pistons this morning by a score of 89-97 BST, are the only team the Hornets have faced in their last five games with a winning percentage below 50%. Can the Hornets continue their momentum and win five straight games in the match thich will be held two days later?
