San Antonio Spurs standings is the 12th in NBA west conference. As of today, the San Antonio Spurs have played a total of 49 games in the 2021/2022 regular season, posting a record of 18 wins and 31 losses, a winning percentage of just 31.7%. This is clearly a far cry from the Spurs team that had Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili in the regular season standings.
Under the NBA’s existing playoff entry rules, only the teams that finish in the top 10 of each conference have a chance to compete in the playoffs. Of these, the top 6 teams qualify directly for the first round of the playoffs, while the teams in 7th through 10th place need to play in a qualifier first. So far, the San Antonio Spurs are still 2.5 wins away from the 10th place Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference. To make the playoffs at the halfway point of the season, the San Antonio Spurs will have to produce a very high winning percentage in their remaining 33 regular season games.
But the Spurs’ current ranking is still somewhat of a true reflection of the current state of the team, which, despite having veteran coach Gregg Popovich at the helm and having Dejounte Murray as an all-around guard averaging 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game, still doesn’t change the fact that the Spurs are a team that needs constant work. In other words, the Spurs should be looking at the long term and not at the current results alone.
